UBC Migration and AMSSA will host a community dialogue on October 15, 2019 at Robson Square. A panel of UBC researchers, a lawyer specializing in refugee issues and three Canadian residents with lived experience as refugees will tackle questions about refugees and Canada in 2019.
The dialogue will examine security issues, the fairness of the refugee system and the economic effects of refugees. Most importantly, ask the question “why should I care?”
This event is suitable for anyone living in the Lower Mainland, community members and stakeholders, service providers, academics, students, folks with migrant backgrounds, journalists, politicians and members of the public.
Light refreshments will be served.
This event is hosted in partnership by AMSSA and UBC Migration, with support from UBC Community Engagement and UBC Robson Square.
