Camosun College: New Program for Immigrant Women & Refugees

Are you interested in learning how to start your own business by making food and crafts for sale at markets and craft fairs in Victoria?

This no-cost program delivered by Camosun College, in partnership with the Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria (ICA) and the BC Association of Farmers’ Markets (BCAFM), is designed to help immigrant and refugee women acquire language, business and communication skills necessary to start their own small businesses and assist with integration into the local community!

 

January – March 2021

  • Improve your English language skills
  • Develop team building and communication skills
  • Learn the basics of business, entrepreneurship and product development
  • Develop employment and maker skills (food and crafts)

April – October 2021

  • Apply skills learned
  • Problem-solve with instructors and mentors
  • Develop your products
  • Participate in weekly farmers’ markets/craft fairs
  • Ongoing language and communication skills development

 

Camosun will be having two information sessions on November 18th at 3 pm and 7 pm.

*Due to COVID restrictions, the 2021 program will be delivered in a blended format (online and in-person).
