You are invited to attend ‘A Bitter Pill’ – MAP’s first public presentation in the IN FOCUS 2021 series!

Date: Thursday March 4th

Time: 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

This is an online event  PLEASE REGISTER HERE

Brief introduction: A Bitter Pill will trace the journey of female refugee doctors who came to Canada and then faced the discriminatory and unjust system of accreditation and lack of job opportunities available to International Medical Graduates. A human rights complaint has been launched in British Columbia and we will hear from Rosemary Pawliuk, the lawyer who is spearheading the case.

What kind of health service do Canadians deserve? What do we lose when we deny IMG’s a role in the medical system? And for a country that prides itself on justice and fairness – is this system fair?

Timed to coincide with International Women’s Day this all-women presentation supports women’s voices in the debate.

Join this event to discuss and debate – then join the campaign to make a change. More information can be found here

MAP’s IN FOCUS series will highlight issues that affect refugees and make us ask Why? There will be four presentations in 2021 in partnership with MAP member agencies and external experts.

MAP’s Information Working Group has members from Options, Inasmuch, Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House  and UBC – we wish to thank these member agencies for their time and collaboration to make IN FOCUS possible.
