North Shore Multicultural Society is offering multiple free online workshops to Refugees throughout October!

October 7: 

‘North Shore Wildlife’

In collaboration with the North Shore Black Bear Society

Time: 10:00 AM – 11:30 am

Description: 

In this workshop, the North Shore Black Bear Society will teach us how to coexist peacefully with the wildlife around us. We’ll learn about: Bear behaviour, Seasonal habits: Wildlife habits during the winter, What they eat, Best practices for living & exploring the North Shore.

 

October 13:

‘Improve your Computer Skills: Emailing’ (first session)

Time: 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM

Description: Learn about emailing, creating an account, sending attachments and using electronic calendars with email

 

October 14: 

‘Starting Your Job Search’

Time: 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM

Description: Getting your career back in Canada can be a real challenge! Most new immigrants have a lot of work experience in their home country, but start in a survival job to get used to the Canadian workplace. Get helpful Job Search Resources and learn how to prepare yourself for the Canadian job market!

 

October 22:

‘Canadian Workplace Culture’

Time: 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM

Description: Are you new in Canada and is the Canadian Workplace new for you? Attend this workshop to get useful information on communication, behavior, small talk and interviewing! Learn the written and unwritten rules of the workplace and prepare for your Canadian career.

 

October 27:

‘Advanced Digital Literacy: Job Searching Online’

Time: 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM

Description: A fascinating insight into all that Google offers with their Advanced Search capability, a few surprises here!

 

 

October 28: 

‘Careers as a Health Care Assistant’ 

Time: 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM

Description: Heath care-related jobs are getting more important these days. This workshop is designed to help those interested in working in the health care field.  Get information on how to apply for a job in health care, what education you need and what you can expect. Our speakers will give you the opportunity to hear from someone in the field and will share practical experience with you.
