How does climate change and food insecurity affect international migration? Simon Fraser University (SFU) invites you to attend a series of public engagement forums to establish a dialogue between academics, students, policy analysts and – most importantly – refugee communities, to begin to answer this question. You are welcome to attend one, two or or all three of our sessions.
Each of the three public forums will be hosted by an internationally recognized scholar, but the voices of refugee communities will be at the forefront of these dialogues.
These forums will be facilitated by Kris Archie, a Secwepemc and Seme7 woman from the Ts’qescen First Nation. Kris was the project manager for the Vancouver Foundation’s youth homelessness initiative before becoming the executive director of “The Circle on Philanthropy and Aboriginal Peoples in Canada.” She is also an instructor with Simon Fraser University’s Dialogue and Civic Engagement Certificate.
The Food, Migration and Climate Change forums are produced by Yıldız Atasoy, the Director of the Centre for Sustainable Development, SFU Public Squareand SFU Continuing Studies.
