The BC Refugee Hub is hosting this upcoming training webinar on digital security and digital literacy for newcomer refugees. This session will provide an overview of key principles for digital security for you and your clients and information on how to access eSkills digital literacy resources.

• Digital Security Essentials: Just how important is digital security anyway? (Hint: It’s really, really important.) We will explore some common security pitfalls to avoid, and give you our top 3 tips for protecting yourself and helping your newcomer and refugee clients protect themselves.
• Digital Literacy Resources: Do you want free, easy to use resources for your clients? We will explain how to you can access eSkills, our free learning activities on digital security.

There will be plenty of time for a Q&A session with our speakers!

Linda Manimtim, Instructional Designer, Red River College. 

Linda joined the Language Training Centre at Red River College in Winnipeg in 2019. Linda has designed and taught EAL (English as an Additional Language), French, and Communications courses in Quebec, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, and England. Sherry Seymour, eSkills Project Lead and Content Developer, Red River College.

Sherry has been working at the Language Training Centre at Red River College in Winnipeg since 2015. She has extensive experience teaching online and hybrid courses and has incorporated technology in her lessons for the past 15 years at post-secondary institutions in both Korea and Canada. Sherry holds her M.A. in TESL from the University of Birmingham in the UK and will graduate with her CAE this month! In her free time, Sherry enjoys connecting with nature, exercise, woodburning (the artistic type – although fire pits are dreamy too), and reading autobiographies.
