YWCA Safe Haven is a free program that supports refugee claimants and asylum seekers in finding immediate accommodation in British Columbia.
The program works with vulnerable newcomers who are not eligible for federal settlement services but need help rebuilding safe, nurturing, and supportive lives for themselves and their families.
In partnership with DiverseCity, YWCA Safe Haven delivers the Housing Search component of the Safe Haven program in Surrey and North Delta. The team assists clients by:
Identifying appropriate emergency accommodation
Finding short- and long-term housing options
Explaining the rental process and renters’ rights in BC
Supporting applications for subsidized housing and rental supplements
Services are available in English, Ukrainian, and French.
Eligibility
Refugee claimants and asylum seekers in need of emergency housing are eligible to register.
