The BC Refugee Hub hosted a webinar to support organizations working with refugee claimants. This session provided essential knowledge about navigating the BC medical system, with a focus on the Medical Services Plan (MSP), the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP), and available medical resources.

Key topics covered:

• An overview of MSP and IFHP and how they apply to refugee claimants.
• The eligibility criteria and enrolment processes for both MSP and IFHP.
• Practical tips and strategies to help service providers better support refugee claimants in accessing medical services.
• Insights from key provincial and federal experts on current updates and available resources for refugee claimants.

Speakers included:

• Beneficiary and Diagnostic Services Branch, Health Sector Workforce and Beneficiary Services Division, Province of BC
• IFHP, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)

Staff from organizations working with refugee claimants, including settlement workers, service providers, health professionals, and community partners—particularly those involved with the BC Safe Haven program.
