In November 2020, the EU and Canada organized a series of events and policy dialogues with a focus on the integration of migrant women as part of their fourth joint migration platform. The series focused on the valuable contributions of migrant women, the commitment of both Canada and the EU to the empowerment of migrant women, and highlighted the EU-Canada relationship and cooperation on migration issues. The event featured webinars (including the closing event that was held on 18 December, on International Migrants Day, with Minister Mendicino making a statement), podcasts, a policy outcomes paper and a global communications campaign.
You can access the resources via the Event Summary, directly on the EU website or from the links below:

Webinars:

  • Promoting the social integration of migrant women
  • Supporting the successful labour market integration of migrant women
  • Sex, gender and equity in health: focus on migrant women
  • Closing event

Podcasts:

  • Integration Stories episode 1, Canada-EU Migration Platform
  • Integration Stories episode 2, Canada-EU Migration Platform

Policy outcomes paper:

This outcome paper presents a detailed note on the topics covered during the Migration Platform events.

Global communications campaign:

Canada is co-chairing with Ecuador and the Global Forum on Migration and Development Mayors Mechanism, as part of the Global Compact for Migration, the international communications campaign, “It Takes a Community,” that aims at showcasing the positive impacts that migration can have on communities around the world.
