During April, the Canadian government announced new immigration measures to support Sudanese temporary residents in Canada who are unable to return home due to the escalating violence in their country. These measures include allowing Sudanese nationals to apply for an extension of their status in Canada and prioritizing the processing of completed temporary and permanent residence applications already in the system. The government will also waive passport and permanent resident travel document fees for Canadian citizens and permanent residents in Sudan who wish to leave.
