DIVERSEcity’s BC Safe Haven program is offering free workshops designed to support asylum seekers and refugee claimants as they navigate life in Canada. These workshops provide practical guidance and valuable insights on a range of important topics, including:
– Creating safe spaces by understanding and addressing bullying, harassment, and discrimination.
– Introduction to family law, including legal rights related to divorce, child custody, and spousal support.
– A newcomer’s guide to accessing and navigating Services Canada.
– Understanding banking in Canada, from managing finances to building good credit.
– Immigration law and what to expect during the asylum claim process.
– Simplifying tax forms with step-by-step instructions and tips on available credits and benefits.
– Essential services for newcomers, including healthcare, education, and financial assistance.
– Brain health and dementia, including how to support loved ones and access care resources.
Workshops are offered in multiple languages, such as English, Spanish, Dari, Pashto, Punjabi, and more. Sessions are available both in-person and online.
