BC Newcomer Camp: A free summer camp that provides recently arrived refugee children with the tools they need to thrive in their new home.

The BC Newcomer Camp is an initiative founded and led by local university students to support recently arrived refugee children. By developing their English skills and engaging them in a variety of sports, we believe that our immersive and engaging environment will equip newly arrived refugee children with the language skills and confidence needed to succeed in their new home. Their transitions will be made easier in the company of peers with a common background. In teaching a variety of sports, as well as leading arts and crafts activities, we intend to build friendships, community, teamwork, and confidence. Our camps include staff members that are fluent in both Arabic and English, as well as members trained in specific sports.
