On November 1st, 2018, the BC Refugee Hub delivered an online webinar training session covering what refugee claimants are eligible for during the claim process. This webinar was targeted to those working in front-line positions, coordinators and managers at settlement service provider agencies, as well as community stakeholders who work with and support refugee claimants from the time they come to BC, during their claim process and up until a claim decision is received. Presenters from Settlement Orientation Services an provided an overview of the claim process and timeline of activities for claimants, went into great detail about what services and programs refugee claimants are/are not eligible for during the claim process, eligibility and application processes. In addition, presenters from the Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction reviewed social assistance for refugee claimants, the application process, eligibility and answered many questions about social assistance for claimants.
We would like to gratefully acknowledge the financial support of the Province of British Columbia through the Ministry of Jobs, Trade and Technology. We would like to thank AMSSA for hosting this webinar and providing technical support.
