This factsheet developed by the BC Refugee Hub, provides information and resources on the arrival categories of refugees in Canada, as defined by the Canadian government. Depending on the arrival pathway of the individual, different services and supports are available.

Categories reviewed in the info sheet include:

  • Government Assisted Refugees (GARs)
  • Privately Sponsored Refugees (PSRs)
  • Blended Visa Office Referred (BVORs)
  • Refugee Claimants (often referred to as Asylum Seekers)
