Statistics

The BC Refugee Hub is hosting a webinar for organizations providing information to asylum seekers and refugee claimants. This session will provide practical guidance to help frontline staff better understand the Pre-Removal Risk Assessment (PRRA) process, including eligibility, timelines, application procedures, and key considerations when providing information to clients navigating this pathway. In light of recent legislative and policy changes under Bill C-12 and evolving operational practices such as virtual PRRA hearings, this webinar aims to strengthen staff knowledge and confidence in providing information to clients about the PRRA process.

Key topics covered:
General overview of PRRA for anyone new to this work
Who qualifies for a PRRA and key timelines to be aware of
Understanding the PRRA application process
Differences and similarities between PRRAs and refugee claims
Services and benefits available for PRRA applicants
Special considerations when providing information to PRRA applicants

Please note: All information presented reflects policies, processes, and practices current at the time of delivery. This webinar focuses on PRRA as it is currently implemented and may be subject to change as Bill C-12 is implemented. This webinar will also be presented within the context that BC Safe Haven service providers cannot provide immigration advice, and will provide attendees with the information links to direct clients to where they can find the most up-to-date information on the PRRA process.
