The amended temporary public policy exempts certain foreign nationals, including refugee claimants and asylum seekers, from the Immigration Medical Examination (IME) requirement if they have previously completed an IME within the last five years and are deemed low risk to public health. This aims to expedite immigration processing and reduce backlogs. The policy, effective until October 5, 2029, facilitates smoother transitions for applicants already in Canada, potentially easing their integration into the community.
