A new pathway to permanent residency is now available for Sudanese nationals with Canadian family connections, aimed at those affected by the ongoing conflict in Sudan. Eligible applicants must have resided in Sudan when the conflict began on April 15, 2023, and have a family member in Canada who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. The Canadian family member must be willing to support the applicant for the first year in Canada. Successful applicants will have their fees waived and access to settlement services. Up to 3,250 applications are being accepted. Additionally, Sudanese nationals in Canada can apply for free extensions to their temporary resident status or change their status to another category until October 27, 2024.
