This e-learning course and toolkit were written, developed and delivered by VAST (Vancouver Association for Survivors of Torture), in partnership with the BC Refugee Hub, as part of the BC Safe Haven Resource Network led by AMSSA and funded by the Province of British Columbia.

Originally delivered as an online leadership training session, this resource has been adapted into a self-paced e-learning module and practical toolkit to support leaders working with refugee claimants across British Columbia. The materials focus on strengthening trauma-informed leadership and promoting organizational well-being for teams supporting individuals navigating complex and often stressful refugee claimant processes.

Topics include:

  • Organization-wide approaches to trauma-informed practice
  • Leadership strategies for addressing trauma and vicarious trauma
  • Practical tools for stress management, self-care, and mental health coping
  • Assessing and strengthening workplace well-being
  • Supporting teams working within complex refugee claimant systems

These resources are intended to support leaders, coordinators, managers, and organizational teams across the refugee-serving sector who are working to strengthen trauma-informed practice and support staff well-being.
