On October 27, 2025, the BC Refugee Hub hosted a webinar focused on shelters and temporary housing for refugee claimants. This session brought together sector experts to unpack how the shelter system works, what referral pathways look like, and practical approaches to temporary housing for refugee claimants in British Columbia.
The webinar covered key topics including challenges in accessing shelter and housing, an overview of the shelter system and referral processes, temporary housing models and best practices, and practical strategies for frontline workers supporting clients navigating shelters and housing searches. Speakers also explored what refugee claimants can expect when moving through shelter and temporary housing pathways.
