If you have made a refugee claim in Canada, please read the information below carefully.

Bill C‑12 became law on March 26, 2026, and it includes changes to the asylum process in Canada. Some of these changes may affect whether a refugee claim can be referred to the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB).

IRCC has introduced new eligibility rules for some claims made on or after June 3, 2025. If a claim is found ineligible for referral to the IRB, the person may still have access to a Pre‑Removal Risk Assessment (PRRA).
