This webinar, hosted by ISSofBC’s BC Refugee Hub on January 24th, 2023, focuses on innovative employment programs for refugees and refugee claimants. Speakers share challenges, best practices and successes in supporting newcomer refugees and refugee claimants in connecting to meaningful employment in the Canadian labour market.

We heard from YWCA’s Afghan Women’s Employment (AWE) program, an employment and training program that supports Afghan refugee women in exploring and securing careers or furthering their education in Canada.

We also heard from ISSofBC’s Gateway to Tourism & Hospitality Jobs for Newcomers program, a free program that helps immigrants, refugees and refugee claimants access free fully funded training opportunities to find tourism and hospitality jobs.

Learn about both programs approaches, challenges, successes and program models.
