MOSAIC has recently been approved for additional funding to expand on the SCENE program that concluded some time ago. The name has been changed to SCOPE (Social and Civic Opportunities; Pathways to Engagement).
The SCOPE Project aims to give racialized newcomers a voice by diversifying governing bodies. Racialized newcomers will have the opportunity to attend training sessions, take part in forums, form a network and receive support for placements on boards and at decision-making tables. This project has been made possible in part by the Government of Canada.
We will be running the program until March of 2023 and opening this up to two cohorts of 30 people each. At this time, we are recruiting for our first cohort, which will be starting on February 26th.

Eligibility criteria
- Identify as a racialized newcomer
- Have solid work experience and looking to give back to the community
- Possess strong working knowledge of English (CLB 7 level or higher)
- Be passionate about civic engagement
- Have the flexibility to attend training sessions on Saturdays for a 4-month period.
Previous experience serving on boards and/or committees is an asset.
We welcome applicants with all residency statuses who intend to live in Canada long term.
Time commitment
The first cohort will start by the end of February 2022. Training will be organized every second Saturday (half day), for a 4-month period.
